DECEMBER 1: SANTA MONICA BEACH CLEANUP WITH SUMMER FRIDAYS
Join Surfrider LA and our friends at Summer Fridays for a Saturday afternoon beach cleanup at Bay Street in Santa Monica. Regardless of where in LA you live, we’ve all been affected by the recent fires in Malibu and it’s a great time to get involved with your community and surround yourself with ocean-loving friends.
After the cleanup will head up the street for a Oaxacan Happy Hour at El Texate, one of our favorite Ocean Friendly Restaurants. Come clean the beach as the sun goes down and join us for food and drink after. It’s a good time to be together. See you there. Saturday 12/1 from 2-5pm | Bay Street, Santa Monica
DECEMBER 3: 24 HOURS OF CLIMATE REALITY
Vice President Al Gore’s Climate Reality is airing an emergency 24-hour broadcast about our climate crisis. Join the Surfrider LA Climate Committee and Climate Reality LA for a Watch Party + Woolsey Fire Fundraiser to benefit our friends at Help California!
We’ve got an amazing panel of experts for a live Q&A including Jack Eidt, Co-Founder of SoCal 350 Climate Action; Elissa Fisher Harris, Chief Impact Officer/Partner, 5th Element; Ben Hauck, Divest LA, Public Bank LA & Climate Reality Leader; and Anna Cummins, Co-Founder of The 5 Gyres Institute. Reserve your donation-based tickets here. Tuesday, 12/3 from 5:30-8:30pm | The Riveter | 4505 Glencoe Ave, Marina del Rey 90292
DECEMBER 9: SUNSET CLEANUP + TALLULA’S HAPPY HOUR
Join Surfrider LA for our last cleanup of the year! This will mark cleanup number 34 for 2018 and we’re going to go out in style by aiming to cover the entire stretch of Sunset Point – from the parking lot at Gladstone’s in the north to the Bel Air Bay Club in the south. We’ll plan to have two tents stationed at either end with volunteers working in toward the center of the beach. We’ve done an outstanding job at Sunset this year but there’s still so much work to be done. Sunday, 12/9 from 2-5pm | Sunset Point
